End of the Trial

The key principle is that the trial does not continue indefinitely. The customer enters a limited access period, and the instance is removed if payment is still not added by day 84.

Day 0 to day 28

During the trial:

• The customer has full platform access
• The platform is fully featured
• No credit card is required
• Unlimited device enrolment is allowed
• The customer can configure settings
• The customer can use Orchard properly across the trial period

Day 28

At the end of the 28 day trial, if no payment method or purchase route has been completed:

• The trial ends
• The customer does not move automatically onto a paid plan
• The account enters a limited access state
• The customer can still access the Orchard instance
• The customer cannot continue using Orchard as a fully active service

Day 28 to day 84

During the limited access period:

• The customer can still view their Orchard instance
• They can see existing data and configuration information
• They cannot add more devices
• They cannot configure new settings
• They cannot configure new security settings
• The on device app provides no functionality
• If the user opens the on device app, they see: “Licence expired, please contact your administrator.”

Device and platform behaviour

During this period, Orchard is no longer operating as an active paid service.

The important customer facing position is:

• The instance remains visible for a limited period
• Access is restricted
• No new device growth is allowed
• No new configuration work is allowed
• The on device app is effectively inactive
• The customer needs to purchase Orchard to restore full service

Day 84

If there is still no payment by day 84:

• The Orchard instance is removed
• The customer no longer has access to that trial instance
• The trial has fully expired
• The customer would need to speak to Orchard or start a new commercial route if they want to proceed

Purchase options before day 84

Before day 84, the customer can still move to a paid route.

Available routes are:

• Direct website purchase by credit card
• Partner or reseller purchase
• MSP route, where applicable

Once a valid purchase route is completed, the instance can be converted into a paid customer instance and the relevant licence allocation can be applied.

Summary

• Trial ends on day 28
• No automatic paid subscription starts
• Customer enters limited access if no payment is made
• Limited access lasts from day 28 to day 84
• Customer can view the instance but cannot actively expand or configure Orchard
• On device app shows licence expired messaging
• If there is still no payment by day 84, the instance is removed
